Clinical Neurophysiology

Clinical neurophysiology is a medical specialty that studies the central and peripheral nervous systems through the recording of bioelectrical activity, whether spontaneous or stimulated. In the clinical neurophysiology laboratory, tests such as electroencephalography, electromyography and evoked potentials can determine the location, degree and nature of damage to the nervous system.

Common neurophysiological tests:

  • Electromiyography, electroneuromyography
  • Evoked potentials
    • Somatosensory evoked potentials
    • Visual evoked potentials
    • Brainstem evoked potentials
    • TMS triggered motor evoked potentials
